You've paid into this community for decades. As property taxes climb, that shouldn't come with the fear of losing your home. Rising property taxes are hitting homeowners on fixed incomes the hardest — for seniors living on Social Security or a fixed pension, a tax bill that keeps climbing every year isn't just an inconvenience. It's a real threat to staying in the home you've lived in for years.

Here's what I'll fight for — the STAY Act:

• Cap annual property tax increases. No homeowner should face an unpredictable, open-ended tax hike year after year, regardless of what the market is doing.

• End the reassessment "gut punch." I'll push for more frequent, incremental reassessments so tax changes are gradual and predictable — not a sudden spike after years of neglect.

• Make Madison carry its share. For decades, the state has shifted more of the funding burden onto local property taxpayers. I'll fight to modernize state revenue sharing so municipalities aren't constantly reaching into homeowners' pockets to make up the difference.
